CAMP COOK-UP

To help you prepare and address any concerns, we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions. This FAQ covers important information about camp logistics, safety measures, policies, and more. We hope this resource provides the clarity and assurance you need. Please review this information upon registration.

1. What are the dates and times of the camp?

Answer: Camp COOK-UP runs every Thursday from August 1st to August 22nd. The first session operates from 9 am - 11 am and the second session operates from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm.

2. Where is the camp located?

Answer: The camp is held at 1 Maiden Ln W, Windsor, ON N9A 5V9. Reference the following map for further direction.

3. What is the age range for camp participants?

Answer: The first session that runs from 9 am - 11 am is geared to pre-teens aged 9-11 years old. The second session that runs from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm is geared to teens aged 12-14 years old. Participants as young as 7 will be accepted at guardian's discretion

4. What should the participant bring to the cooking camp?

Answer: Participants should bring the following items:

 

  • Comfortable clothing suitable for cooking and kitchen activities. Aprons will be provided.

  • Closed-toe shoes.

  • A water bottle.

  • Reusable container for leftover food.

  • Any necessary medications (please inform the camp staff).

  • Optional: a notebook and pen for taking notes.

5. Are meals and snacks provided?

Answer: Yes, the participants will get to eat the food prepared each day. Please inform us of any dietary restrictions or allergies when registering. Participants are encouraged to eat breakfast prior to the session as the meal provided will be served around lunchtime.

6. What safety measures are in place?

Answer: All cooking activities are supervised by our qualified instructor. We provide safety instructions and proper handling techniques for all kitchen equipment. That said, please review our Liability Release Statement for further information.

7. How do you handle food allergies?

Answer: Please indicate any allergies or dietary restrictions on the registration form. We will make every effort to accommodate these needs and avoid cross-contamination.

8. What if my child has no prior cooking experience?

Answer: No prior cooking experience is necessary! Our camp is designed to cater to all skill levels, from beginners to more experienced young chefs. Our instructor will provide guidance and support throughout the camp.

9. Can parents visit during camp hours?

Answer: For safety and to minimize distractions, we ask that parents do not visit during camp hours.

10. What happens if there is a medical emergency?

Answer: No prior cooking experience is necessary! Our camp is designed to cater to all skill levels, from beginners to more experienced young chefs. Our instructor will provide guidance and support throughout the camp.

11. How do I register my child for the camp?

12. Is there a refund policy?

Answer: Unfortunately there is no refund policy in place and by registering to the camp

13. How do you handle behavioral issues?

Answer: We expect all participants to behave respectfully and follow camp rules. If a behavioral issue arises, we will address it promptly and involve parents if necessary. In cases of severe or repeated behavior problems, we reserve the right to dismiss the participant from the program.

15. What if my child has specific needs or accommodations?

Answer: We strive to be inclusive and accommodating. Please contact us to discuss any specific needs or accommodations your child may require, and we will do our best to provide the necessary support.

16. What is the participant-to-staff ratio?

Answer: We maintain a participant-to-staff ratio of 10:1 to ensure personalized attention and a safe environment for everyone. Additionally, there will be a student volunteer on site at all times as well as various members of our staff.

18. Can the participant bring any food to the camp?

Answer: No, we kindly advise participants not to bring outside food or snacks with them, to help minimize the risk of allergic reactions amongst those at the camp.

19. Can the participant bring their prepared food home?

Answer: Yes, the participant is welcome to bring home their culinary creation if they do not finish eating it while here. With this likelihood, please send the participant with a reusable container.
